ABA MN District 44 Policies

In addition to the national rules, ABA MN District 44 has policies set by the

ABA MN District 44 Director:

  • $50 MANDATORY SEASONAL District 44 entry fee.  Must be paid prior to fishing any District 44 one-day tournaments.  Fees collected will go into the District 44 Angler of the Year Championship Pot.  100% of monies collected from this fee will be paid out to the top 5 ranked District 44 point holders after the District 44 two day end of the season tournament.  This fee must be paid directly to the ABA MN Director and NOT through the national ABA office!  Payout of the District 44 Angler of the Year Championship Pot is as follows: 1st place 30%, 2nd place 25%, 3rd place 20%, 4th place 15%, 5th place 10%.  Note that this Championship Pot is SEPERATE and IN ADDITION to the regular two day District 44 tournament winnings.

  • To qualify for the Angler of the Year Championship Pot, anglers must fish 4 one day tournaments plus the two day tournament in District 44.  Only your best 4 District 44 one day tournaments plus the two day District 44 tournament apply towards the District 44 Angler of the Year Championship Pot.

  • $5 PER TOURNAMENT State of Minnesota Tax Fee.  This is to be paid to the ABA MN District 44 Director prior to each tournament in addition to the regular entry fees.  This is to off-set/re-coup DNR permit costs.

  • One day tournaments fished in District 44 still count as usual towards qualifying for any district's two day tournament and the regional tournament.

  • Any ABA angler is allowed to fish the District 44 two day tournament IF they have fished at least 4 one day tournaments in ANY district.

  • SPORTSMANSHIP.  All anglers will demonstrate sportsmanship toward fellow competitors, land/dock owners, & other boaters.  NO exceptions.

  • Fish weigh-in order at the end of the tournament is the same as the boat launch order.

  • Fish will NOT be weighed out of order.  You must wait until your boat number is called to bring your fish up to be weighed.

  • Check-in/Registration is from 4:30 AM - 5:30 AM prior to tournaments.  Once the safety meeting starts at 5:30 AM, NO further registrations will be accepted.

  • Boaters paired with non-boaters will demonstrate sportsmanship and should not be bow-blocking the non-boater.

  • Non-boaters have their choice of water for 4 hours during any tournament.

  • Non-boaters are expected to donate $20 or 1/2 the fuel cost to the boater to cover their portion of gas/other expenses.

  • Anglers must be prompt and on time.  If you are not, your registration can be denied at the discretion of the District 44 Director.

  • Boaters must have proof of insurance.  If you do not, you will not fish.

  • ABA Anglers must have membership card and number with them.  If you do not, you will not fish.

  • This is a DRAW tournament trail.  Every angler will participate in the draw.

  • Anglers are to be courteous at all times to everyone on the water, at the ramps, at the weigh-in, and in the parking lots.  NO exceptions.

  • Live well checks are mandatory.

  • Bitter & despondent anglers will NOT be invited back.  We are here to have fun in a safe and competitive environment!

  • Fish will be released at the weigh-in location.

  • Cell phones are for safety emergencies only.

  • Winning Anglers must be present at the awards session to receive their winning check.  If they are not present, their winning amount will be donated to the Minnesota Veterans Camp located on Big Marine Lake.
