FAQ

Why should I also fish in other District tournaments too in addition to my home District?

If your goal is to try to qualify for the Regional Championship, remember:  To qualify for Regionals,

the BEST 4 ONE DAY + the BEST 1 TWO DAY tournament point totals count.  Doesn't matter what

District you fish them in.  You want to try to achieve your highest point total possible.

What about a District Championship?

District #44 will crown a District Champion.  This is for the angler who has the highest season

point total of the ABA tournaments fished WITHIN District #44.

I understand that I have to qualify to fish a two day tournament.  How do I qualify to fish

the two day tournament, and can I fish more than one two day tournament in different

Districts?

Yes, you have to qualify to fish a two day tournament.  You have to fish 4 one day ABA tournaments,

and it doesn't matter which District you fish them in.  You may fish more than one 2 day tournament,

as long as you've fished 4 one day ABA tournaments during the season.

Is this a professional trail?

This is a draw tournament trail for weekend anglers.  Level playing field.

No guides, pros, or teams are allowed.  Boaters and non-boaters are welcome.

Can I fish with a partner of my choosing/what is a draw tournament trail?

No, you may not fish with a partner you choose.  This is a DRAW tournament trail.  At the morning

meeting, there will be a partner draw between the boaters and non-boaters. This is luck of the DRAW.

If I fish in another ABA District, how do those points work?

All points you earn in any ABA District that you fish count toward Regional/National Points.

For example: District #44 separately crowns a District Champion based solely on District #44

tournaments fished within the District.  Only District #44 tournaments will count for the

District #44 point total.  If you fish in another ABA District, those points will count toward

both your Regional/National Points, and your point total for THAT District you are fishing in.

If I fish the Advantage Series, do those points count only toward that series of tournaments,

or do they count toward your district?

They count towards both the District Points of the District the tournament is being held in,

and National Points.  The only difference between the Advantage Series tournaments and

the regular one-day tournaments is the price and the guaranteed pay-out of $1000 for first

place if a full field of anglers compete.  Full field for Advantage Series tournaments is 30 anglers.

How does the point system work?

For one day tournaments (200 points at 1 point increments)

For example:  1st Place 200 points, 2nd Place 199 points, and so on.

For two day tournaments (400 points at 2 points increments)

For example:  1st Place 400 points, 2nd Place 398 points, and so on.

With a full field you will receive maximum points.

20 anglers at a tournament is a full field.

If there are less than 20 anglers at any tournament, the point system will be

pro-rated, going down in 1 point increments for one-day tournaments and 2 point

increments for two-day tournaments based on the number of anglers present.

For example for One Day Tournaments:

If there are 19 anglers, First Place will be 199 points, 2nd Place 198, and so on.

If there are 18 anglers, First Place will be 198 points, 2nd Place 197 points, and so on.

If there are less than 20 anglers at any two day tournament, the point system will be

pro-rated and will go down in 2-point increments.

For example for Two Day Tournament:

If there are 19 anglers, First Place will be 198 points, 2nd Plane 196, and so on.

If there are 18 anglers, First Place will be 196 points, 2nd Place 194, and so on.

You may fish as many one day and two day tournaments as you wish, but only your

BEST 4 ONE DAY tournaments + your BEST 1 TWO DAY tournament count toward

national standings.

A perfect score is 1200 points:  4 one day tournaments at 200 points each = 800 points,

plus 1 two day tournament at 400 points = 1200 points.

Do I have to fish in my home District to earn National Points?

No.  You can fish any ABA District throughout the United States, all count toward National Points.

You can fish as many as you wish, only the top 4 one day tournaments count toward your National Point total

You can fish as many as you wish, only the top 4 one day tournaments count toward your

National Point total.

Do I have to be a member of the military to fish ABA tournaments?

No.  Any person over the age of 16 can be a member and compete in ABA tournaments.

Does fish weight count for anything?

ABA anglers compete locally for national rankings against members all over the country.  We do NOT

use a points and pounds system.  We use a POINTS ONLY system.  This way it is fair for anglers

all over the country...no area of the country has a bigger advantage because of bigger fish or

longer growing season.

If I bring my own boat, am I guaranteed to use it?

Yes.  You are allowed to use your own boat at any 1 day or 2 day tournament.

The one exception to this policy is:  At the National Championship, you are NOT guaranteed

your own boat use.
